This was a post I had written in February 2012
Turner Classic Movies has re-captured my attention again. I love old movies and this weekend must be focusing on Jack Lemmon movies. Last night, The Apartment, with Shirley MacLaine, which isn't one that I like all that much, but to which I am very tied personally since I played the piano solo in high school and have the recording on an old LP record. (Remember those? BTW - the link is not me, but the arrangement is the same) Today, however, is It Should Happen to You, with Judy Holliday - I've especially loved this movie because Judy's character, Gladys Glover, wants some attention and starts putting up billboards around NYC with her name only, nothing else. And the whole thing goes viral - 1950s style! I have always wondered if this would work - would people start talking about something just because they see the name everywhere?? I suppose it's the same thing as a YouTube post that's passed around these day.
